You’re on the Same Team

Last updated: Oct 13, 2022

“Marriage flourishes when the couple works together as a team; when both husband and wife decide that winning together is more important than keeping score.” Michelle Obama

My husband Derrick came up with a sweet little phrase that has proven to be incredibly helpful for us over the years:

Team Pope

That simple two-word phrase helps us to remember that at the end of the day, we’re on the same team and that we ultimately want the same thing: a loving, connected and happy marriage.

Even when the pressures in our lives are causing more stress than we would like…

Even when we think we want different things…

Even when we think the other is just flat-out wrong…

And especially when it feels like it’s us against the world…

Because here’s the truth: If our relationship isn’t right, nothing else is either.

When a relationship is struggling it impacts our health, our sleep, the way we eat, the way we parent, the way we think about ourselves, even our ability to be effective in our careers.

It’s probably the same with you too. When your relationship is struggling, it feels like everything is much more difficult.

My relationship with my husband is a priority and we have to be winning as a couple in order for our relationship to thrive and each of us to feel like we’re winning individually

So this holiday season….

When things feel difficult,

When you’re stressed and feel like the other isn’t doing enough…

When you’re right (damn it…) and he’s wrong…

Remember that you are ultimately on the same team.

Have a very happy holiday……filled with love and light –

Sharon

P.S. – I’ve got something big – something I’ve never done before – that I’m going to share with you next week that will completely transform your relationship, so keep your eyes open for that…….
